I've reckoned for a long time now that somewhere in a seedy little bar in Atlantic City or Vegas, or maybe in the outskirts of Paris, there's a bloated, ageing cocktail lounge singer dreaming of his former years of glory...

...and what a mistake it was to fake his own death :)

... he keeps trying to sneak a Muzak-al, crooned version of a Doors hit into the set, but through the dark, smoky atmosphere, the half dozen or so dead drunk punters keep calling for an encore of "Somewhere Beyond The Sea", or "White Christmas" instead of all this Greek tragedy stuff.

Smoothing his velvet suit and straightening his borrowed bow tie with a sigh, he always finishes the set by telling the audience:

"I used to be Jim Morrison you know".

"Of course you did pal!"

...The crowd respond with great mirth and ironic clapping.

Well, Magic I don't mind some of the "Fat Elvis" period stuff as well. It could also depend on how you view Morrison was he the beautiful, poetic, gifted, spiritual, embodiment of the late 60's zeitgeist or just a fat, bombastic, upper middle class, misogynist dickhead with a school boy's flair for words. "Journey we further into the nightmare".....

 I disagree Lee...

I regard this as The Doors "Fat Elvis" album... a cocktail lounge singer's, jump-suited self parody.

Or is that a little too harsh? :)

This is a better album than it is often given credit for and stands the test of time better than some other Doors albums such as Waiting For The Sun.
