Captain Watson is Captain H. R. Watson who died in 1962. He sang a variety of shanties including others which were recorded but not included on this disc.

Despite being F4 in the catalogue on both label and sleeve, this was, in fact, the only record in the F series and is regarded elsewhere as being F1 to avoid confusion.
