Notes Although James (Tim Hardin) began his musical career in the Greenwich Village section of New York City in 1961, two years later, he had relocated to Boston where he was discovered by a record producer named Erik Jacobsen who had arranged a meeting for Hardin at Columbia records in New York City. In 1964, Mr. Hardin had moved back to Greenwich Village to pursue his recording career at Columbia records. Sadly, these recordings were not issued, so Columbia had ended his contract. When Mr. Hardin had relocated to Los Angeles, he met an actress named Susan Yardley and moved back to New York City with her. Sometime later, Mr. Hardin was signed to the Verve Folkways label where he produced the Tim Hardin 1 disc of 33.33 rpm in 1966. This disc contained the tunes “Misty Roses”, “Reason To Believe” and “Don’t Make Promises”, which became a b-side tune of “Woman, Woman” of the Union Gap, which was the band of Gary Puckett. This Verve Folkways disc, the Tim Hardin 2 album, was the second disc that Verve had issued. This compilation contained the tune “If I Were A Carpenter”, which was a success by both Roberto (Bobby Darin) Cassotto in 1966 and by the Four Tops in 1968. Furthermore, this was the penultimate disc that was first issued by means of Verve Folkways records and the final Verve Folkways disc of Tim Hardin that was both monaurally and stereofonically issued in the United States.
