Just about as bonkers as you'd imagine it to be....

Recorded this today, and it is nutty. The opening March of the Synthesisers is a tune I recognised, as I was instantly transported to a funfair, Wurlitzer-style. The next three tracks are pretty straight up orchestral renderings of those titles (if there are synthesisers, I couldn't discern them... but for the Cannon shot Sound Effects in 1812).

The opening of side 2 is a wild swooshing zzzzieeeeaaooooowww from right to left channels of pure synthesised notes, then a pause before Thus spoke Zarathustra (2001 theme), which again, is fairly straight forward.

As are the next two... but you can detect the use of synths for colouring on these.

The final track is the winner though... Beethoven's 9th symphony "Ode To Joy", but done with synthesised harpsichord sound, and taking up a fair portion of that side. It sounds exactly like it was lifted from A Clockwork Orange soundtrack (A Kraftwerk Lozenge (?)), indeed, it probably was, or the other way round.

Nuts.

Made me smile though.

This is one of those albums that I found in a charity store record bin that just grabbed me, and I just had to have (and not because of the nude lady!), but the whole thing... the kitsch SF cover, the early synthesiser orchestral music experimentation too.

It's like a glimpse at tomorrow's world, people! (From 1974, that is).

I've added it to my recording list, and can't wait to give it a listen.
