Notes In 1955, Frankie Lymon had formed "The Teenagers," which was one of the first rock and roll groups that consisted of adolescent boys that had achieved national and international fame. Mr. Lymon was the lead singer who composed the tunes Why Do Fools Fall In Love and Please Be Mine. The other four members were Sherman Garnes, the bassist, Joe Negroni, the baritone, Herman Santiago, the first tenor and Jimmy Merchant, the second tenor. With the exception of I'm Not A Juvenile Deliquent, the first four singles of this group had reached the national hit parades of both the Billboard and Cash Box discs of 45 rpm. Afterward, the group had failed to garner national success until the tune "Goody Goody," had reached the top 20 position of the Billboard hit parade of discs of 45 rpm. Accordingly, the Gee label had beome a failed record label simply because the once prosperous groups of the Cleftones and the Teenagers had no longer attracted national music fame. After the Gee label was sold to Roulette records, the tunes that Mr. Lymon had issued failed to reach neither the popular, nor the rhythm and blues hit parades. The final tune of Mr. Lymon that had made the national hit parade was Little Bitty Pretty One, which had peaked at position # 58. This Teenagers album is the first disc of 33.33 rpm of the Gee label, which peaked at positon # 19 by means of the Billboard hit parade of albums partly due to the national success of eight of the twelve tunes of this disc. This group had never issued another disc of 33.33 rpm and shortly after the release of this disc, the Teenagers had disbanned. Lastly, Mr. Lymon had ided of a substance overdose in the basement of the home of his grandparents. Images
