A1 I always have vivid memories of listening on the radio in the early 1970's

I've a Dr. Hook & Medicine show LP on this Harmony label, Perhaps I should take a close look at the bottom of its rear cover to see if the EMI credit's there as well. Cheers, Phil!

Hi Neil, maybe CBS weren't particularly strong in the budget market - I don't remember seeing the same amount of budget releases from them that EMI had with Axis and Drum (and Decca classical until 1981) - and perhaps they only had the staff to promote their full-price new releases, so that's why they contracted EMI to promote these.

That one beats me too, Phil! I can see it printed at the bottom of the cover - "Marketed by EMI Retail Promotions" ....er...what...?

Actually, make it 1982 or so - Judy Garland's A STAR IS BORN reissue from that year has matrices MX201074/201075.

Looks like a late 1970's issue, certainly no earlier than May 1977, which is when Australian Record Company Limited became CBS Records Australia Limited (company name on bottom of back cover; I'm curious as to how EMI got to distribute this, though!). A quick check of a few Australian-pressed CBS and WEA albums for nearby matrix numbers shows that 1977 releases were in the 180000's, so this one could be 1978 or 1979 (I can't think of any Aussie CBS/WEA album I might have from those years).
