Break-In Master-45worlds 2nd Oct 2019
| | Around the time Monty Python broke up, Neil Innes and Eric Idle teamed up to create a new comedy show that was kind of a Rutland version of the T.V Guide. It listed a bunch of parodies of various t.v. shows, one of which was something to do with a performance of the a group known as The Pre-Fab Four, the legend that would last a lunch time and they were called, The Rutles. From that, they decided to do the Mock-umentary of the group that never existed called, The Rutles, whose lives were VERY similar to that of The Beatles. How The Beatles could sue them for this when George was not only a part of it but was IN it, I don't know! |

| | "is this a parody or tribut ??"
Both, I think. Bear in mind that Innes and The Beatles were buddies, which is how The Bonzos ended up featuring in Magical Mystery Tour". |

| | From Wikipedia:
Following the release of the 1978 The Rutles album, ATV Music, the then-owner of the publishing rights to the Beatles catalog, sued Innes for copyright infringement. Though Innes hired a musicologist to defend the originality of his songs, he settled with ATV out of court for 50% of the royalties and shared songwriting credit on the 14 songs included on the album.

| | I remember something about that too. I know Lennon warned them in advance about "Get Up And Go" sounding too much like "Get Back". Great songs though - I play my CD version like a standard album, never mind the spoof aspect. |

| | Wasn't the pastiche a little too close for comfort for ATV music?
I seem to recall a lawsuit that resulted in Lennon and McCartney getting songwriting credits and royalties. |

| | Musically, too, it's a work of near-genius. Innes gets his pastiche very near to being an outright homage. |

| | Since everyone seems to be in a rush to put all the Beatles albums up, I thought I would post ihre Doppelgänger instead.
The included booklet is just amazing, although I don't think I will have time to scan it in. |
