Though scheduled for 4th November it wasn't in the shops until the 11th, the same week as The Jam's 'This Is The Modern World'. The Jam entered the charts at 54 on first week sales but the Hot Rods must have been hovering just below the top 60. Both albums were in the top 30 the following week.

Reviewed in Record Mirror w/e 12th November. Maybe an 11th Nov' release, but who knows how accurate or up to date they were with their reviews for records released that week?!

I think it's worth noting that the single sheet insert, on the reverse has the cat number top right and the Island logo and address centered at the bottom in white on a black matt finish print.

My copy, which I did not buy on release, has 25 Island artist LP sleeves on each side of inner sleeve. I did not get a plain black die-cut sleeve as noted above. All LP's are approx 1970 - 1977.

This LP entered the Album Charts on 3rd December 1977 and reached No. 27 - their best placing for an LP. It spent 3 weeks on the chart.

Listening to this now, hadn't heard it in years. Hasn't aged at all, a really great record.
