WIVES, WEDDINGS & ROSES: By Dave Kusworth 2016
Wives, weddings & roses was, as I remember the first Bounty Hunters album recorded at Bob Lamb’s
studios that we made from start to finish, unlike the first album The Bounty Hunters which was kind
of put together over time from demos etc. It is probably my favourite from a songwriter point of
view. I was listening to lots of Jacques Brel through Scott Walker at the time which I think comes
out on songs like All the Violet lights. Alan shines on that one. Also, probably the best song I’ve ever
written Dollar Kiss. I think Paint and Sugar should have been a single. Probably the only track I’m
not happy with is Riverboat Blues as we should have recorded it like we played it on stage I feel it
may be too laid back... Incidentally I thought Dolly Parton would have done a brilliant version of “I Don’t know why I still Love you.” Written on a bus journey somewhere, someday. As was Blood on the Knife strangely enough on the same day.
