After the ashes of The Bounty Hunters came All the Heartbreak Stories. A shimmering acoustic album.
I broke the band up without telling them like a Ziggy kind of moment on stage. It wasn’t to do with the band it was about my own personal life. I guess a strip back basis is what I wanted to do.
It seemed right at the time to my emotions, but probably not at time the right commercial move.
With Glenn still on board and Carl Bevan from Rag Dolls on drums also a great, strange and different guitar impute by Jeremy Thelby. A few of the songs started out with the original Bounty Hunters line up like Next Tuesday (bonus track) and What Time Blows Away and I think half-finished versions of That Girl and Lost Words. The Most Beautiful Girl In Town is borrowed from Charles Bukowski… ”and she tied her hands to the back of the car” I gave Susan Dillane to sing.
With Susan I wanted to get a Gram Parson and Emmy-Lou Harris duet together. One of the few songs on that album that was just a story. Well it’s my “Blood on the Tracks” I suppose as someone once referred to it. Incidentally we did a few versions of A Hundred Years from Now which I’m sure will one day be obtainable.
