green label, kinney record group-distributed 1971 k-computer system renumbering; not really a re-release or reissue in origin, as betrayed by the matrix numbers borne: side one bears both the new K 56001 A (& in feint, what looks like KT) but also the previous system's WS 1712 A-1 * F (only K 56001-B2 on side two).
Hi Bodston, yes that's right, the K prefix essentially stood for Kinney, and was used for all UK Warner Bros., Reprise, Elektra and Atlantic records from 1971 onwards. Warner/Reprise were distributed by Pye before then (with W or WS prefixes and numbers as per USA), and Elektra and Atlantlic by Polydor. I see a few more pre-1971 albums with K numbers on the Warner Bros. page here, so they need to be sorted out!
PhilMH are you saying that the K prefix to the Cat# only arrived in 1971 with the arrival of Kinney?
Obviously the album was originally released in 1967 to coincide with the release of the film, but if this is the case, with a W prefixed Cat#
This isn't a 1967 issue, that date on the label is the date of first publication, and is a never-ending source of confusion and frustration. The back covers says "Distributed by Kinney Record Group Ltd", so this would be no earlier than 1971, and no later than 1973, when the company was renamed WEA Records Ltd. The original 1967 issue would have been distributed by Pye Records (orange label then, I think), and the Burbank palm trees label came after the green label.
