Pat Donaldson and Timi Donald were both with Richard Thompson on his solo albums. I think Pat was in Paris touring with Johnny Hallyday at this time. His double LP Live at Palais Des Sports had Pat in the rhythm section. Jerry Donahue played guitar on that album too...
"Jones and Brown also contributed ‘Bown Bown Bown’ to 1972’s “Françoise Hardy”, recorded at Sound Techniques in Chelsea with folk rock producer Tony Cox. Sound Techniques was a bit like a social club for folk musos from Joe Boyd’s Witchseason stable. The Trees album had been recorded there, as had albums by Fairport Convention and Fotheringay. The latter’s Gerry Conway and Pat Donaldson played on the sessions for Françoise’s album, along with Richard Thompson and Fairport drummer Dave Mattacks. "
I see Ace Records CD compilation lists Thompson, but I have always thought Jerry Donahue was the guitarist on this... also because Donahue was listed on her following album recorded maybe at the same sessions
We should ask Richard...!
The title was "Françoise Hardy" because she frequently called her records by her own name. As a result there are at least four "self-tltled" LPs. This one also has session performances by Richard Thompson on probably only one track and potentially with Simon Nicol too.
