carey jeggs 12th Jun 2020		When Mike Batt appeared on a recent episode of Pointless Celebrities.Xander was asking him about his long career,his work with The Wombles and Katie Melua etc. but when the subject of Liberty Records cropped up Batt looked panic-stricken.I could imagine his internal monologue. 'Xander's a gent but that Osman bastard is going to bring up Western Flier just when I thought it was safely dead and buried.' The moment passed with something said about Elton John answering the same ad. Batt sang the show out with Bright Eyes.I think a compromise had been reached.
carey jeggs 10th Aug 2018		The front cover picture and the reference to John Ivor Golliwog seem to have been removed for the American market. Now on to the mystery of Michael Mayhew.He appears on one of the cover pictures together with Mike Batt and Nigel Waymouth.In the Wiki entry for Hapshash his name is one of a handful,out of the numerous personages who have passed through this outfit,not to be provided with a link.So who was he?Where has he been and what has he done since? Well.Brenda Blethyn's husband is the former head of graphic design at the National Theatre and his name is.....Michael Mayhew.Bearing in mind that Hapshash were a very arty-farty sort of group,it seems to me feasible that this could be the same man.
