Just as the Tide Was Flowing was eventually covered by "10,000 Maniacs" using EXACTLY the arrangement used by Shirley Collins on No Roses. No mention of Shirley's version was made on the Maniacs LP and they claimed arrangement for themselves!

He read modern languages at Oxford according to his obituary and was interested in traditional music even then.
Grauniad obituary

His son's remembrances of him talk about him singing counter-tenor in the church choir which is not the same as classical tenor

Lovely delicate sound of the concertina here. Very similar to the flute organ that Dolly played on this album. This track was performed by some of the same artists on Shirley & Dolly's "No Roses" which was issued in the same year.

A rare performance by Bill Leader as musician, rather than sound engineer or producer.
