Regarding Phase IV, actually I have. I have some that don't say where they are made, and I have in my hand a copy of SP 44143, Ronnie Aldrich "Here Come The Hits" which specifically says on the label "Made In USA" There may be others, that's just the first one I reached.
Admittedly this looks more very late 60's, and here is a chance it is a record club pressing, but that is not indicated anywhere. The sleeve say's "London Records, 539 W. 25th. St., New York, NY 1001 "(which in itself is strange because US postal codes were 5 digits at the time)
For the most part, up until the mid-60's, most US London releases were pressed by Decca in the UK (anybody ever see a US "Phase-4" that wasn't?)..when the demand totally outweighed the possible supply..US pop albums were pressed domestically (in fact only the first 4 Stones LPs come the export way...)...still, I have seen US Montovani and Pavorati Lps pressed by Decca UK well into the 70s!...John
This came into the charity shop where i volunteer today, really beat-up and with no cover,interestingly..."First pressings of this album are technically "exports",and the phrase 'Made In England' must accompany the 'ffrr' and the 'ear' logo. Also note how these export versions do not include the album's title on the label.Further note that the covers were manufactured in the US,making this version a product both of the UK and the US".
