Vinyl Album
Notes B6 artist credit on label as entered on label. Liner notes include a brief note from 12 US armed forces personnel including their full names and complete mailing (post office) addresses. "A remarkably high percentage of the Country and Western records that we make here at RCA Victor are sent abroad for American servicemen stationed overseas. In fact, C & W music appears to be an overwhelming entertainment choice of the members of the armed forces. "With this in mind, we set about to find the twelve all-time favorites of our men in uniform. With the help of the Army, Navy and Marine Corps 'Times', we organized a contest in which servicemen were invited to nominate their favorite country songs and tell why they had made their selections. To each writer of a winning letter would go a prize of 25 RCA Victor albums of his choice. "The response was in the thousands, and after counting the ballots we came up with the performances heard on this album. The winning letters are reproduced below." Images
