"Organized  in the year 1960 by the Canadian Brethren (Sacred Heart), the Banda Marcial do Colégio Cristo Rei has placed the City of Marília in evidence in the artistic and cultural sectors of the State of São Paulo. At the beginning, even when its young components performed only five or six musical pieces, it became to participate in civic national parties, promoting shiny performances in countless towns from various regions of the State of São Paulo. As the years go by, thanks to the incentive took at every corners where it performed, the Banda Marcial kept increasing its attractive musical repertoire and sculpting its youthful elegance, then, it became to be insistently requested by public authorities and cultural entities. In June, 1964, at a memorable contest that took place at the Botucatu City, it won its first prize among dozens of performers and, in September of this same year, in São Paulo, at the Martial Bands and Fanfares' contest organized by the Record TV channel, it became the State's champion and won, with same shining, the same prize in the years 1966 and 1967, now yet with its structure modified, by having added flags and a Corporation's Commander, not mention its musical repertoire. In the year 1968, at the welcoming City of Araraquara, it won the first prize in the Martial Bands' contest. In the State's Capital, further than its participation in festively live contests in the Vale do Anhangabaú, it performed three times at Tupi TV channel in the shows: "No Reino da Garotada", "Desafio 67" and, finally, by its many previous hits consecration, in "Moacir Franco Show". Going through three Brazilian States,  it visited more than forty towns, performing consecutively for three times in some of them." (By José Oswaldo Carvalho, president of the young musicians)
