Notes

George Militades a.k.a. George Melachrino was a bandleader who played many different types of instruments so well that he was enrolled in the Trinity School of Music at the age of fourteen years. Afterward, Mr. Melachrino had begun his musical career by playing and singing at the Savoy Hill Studio in London, singing in bands that were lead by Benjamin Baruch Ambrose, and playing saxophone with Carroll Gibbons.

After Mr. Melachrino had he started his own band and secured a contract at the Café de Paris in 1939, he had later joined the armed forces, and received training at the Corps of Military Police where he became a P.T. Instructor. Mr. Melachrino also gained experience as a military musician at the Army Broadcasting Department thru which he had led the British Band of the Allied Expeditionary Forces and the Orchestra Khaki.

In 1945, Mr. Melachrino had established the George Melachrino Orchestra, which became synonymous with deluxe string arrangements and had ultimately led him to be the first artist that RCA Victor had chosen to record his string music for their newly established 12-inch discs of 33.33 rpm of popular music. This and many other "Moods in Music" discs were so inspirational to music lovers that Mr. Melachrino was the only artist that was featured for at least the next six consecutive RCA popular 12 inch LPs.
