Notes

This South African group is led by Clive Harding who is the founder and bass guitarist of this group. Additionally, Mr. Harding is an amateur pilot who has the means to transport his group to arrive at personal appearances without delay.

Til Hannamann is the trumpet, rhythm guitar and organ player, whereas Bruce Bark plays the lead guitar, harmonica and saxophone, and Tony Hughes, who is a big listener of soul music, plays the percussion.

When this group had first started in 1964, this group was called the Nevadas, who had very little prosperity. Mr. Harding had decided that his band members grow their hair long due to the sucess that the Beatles had.

After these members started to acquire the hippie look, they changed their group name to the Zombies, and shortly afterward, their success began mainly because of the growth of the long hair style.

When the Zombies met Glenys Lynne (Jill), they asked her to become the new lead vocalist, which led the male members to change the band name to Four Jacks and a Jill. After the male companions had cut their hair short, this group achieved true prosperity when the tune Jimmy Come Lately had peaked at the #2 position of the South African hit parade in 1965. Two years later, Timothy became their first number one tune of the South African hit parade. Consequently, this band was the first South African group that had recieved a Gold Disc award for both tunes.

Even though RCA records had issued four LP discs of South Africa for this band, the Master Jack LP was the first disc of 33.33 rpm of this band that was issued in the United States. Finally, this was the only disc of this band that was both monaurally and sterefonicalli issued in the United States.
