Liner notes explain:

"The twist has now come of age. It is a dance indulged in and enjoyed by the young in heart of all ages.

"Up to the release of this record, the twist usually took the form of a vocal rendition of twist tempos. If a particular tempo suited the fancy of twist dancers, it only lasted for the length of a single vocal record which could be anywhere from two to three minutes duration. Now you and I know that it takes two or three minutes to get the kinds out and really start moving.

"What we've done in this record was to understand the true spirit of twisting and create an opportunity to get the kinds out, start swingin' and then REALLY get in the groove. So, move back the furniture, push back the walls and everybody do the Chicken Flickin'-Cotton Pickin'-Twenty Minute Twist.
