| | Trivia the maple lace version was just a straight recording no overdubbing at all |

| | I think I have it. Remember playing it once. Wasn't all that impressed with it. Much prefer Frankie Davidson's version myself, R.C.. |

| | R.C. said "Now you got me singing now neil haha" - he-he! Knew I'd getcha!
Trainman, I recently picked up a copy of the Pipkins version on 45rpm(EMI-Columbia Australian issue DO-9135, noted as an "A.I.R."[London] Production). The Benny Hill Show used this tune, mainly for sketches during the show and also used Yakety-Axe for the closing credit chase sequences. |

| | The "Hit version" in the US was by "The Pipkins" (Roger Greenaway and Tony Burrows).
It was originally written for a children's TV show "Oliver And The Underworld (?)" and was also used as background music on the Benny Hill Show. |

| | That's right, that's right,
I'm sad and blue,
'Cos I can't do the Boogaloo!
I'm lost, I'm lost,
Can't do my thing,
that's why I sing
Gimme, Gimme Dat Ding!
(with due acknowledgements to Albert Hammond and Mike Hazelwood)
Gosh! How many versions of this have done the rounds! Here in Australia there were two competing versions, one by Maple Lace, the other by Frankie Davidson. |

| | The "Ding Dongs" in the link was a group in 1960 with Bobby Sheen, who was also known as "Bob B. Soxx"_of "Bob B. Soxx and the Blue Jeans" fame. He also sang with the Coasters for a time.
"The Motown Encyclopedia" by Graham Betts suggests that at least some of the tracks may have been 1958 Brunswick recordings by Bobby Darin, (which were then released on Atco as "The Rinky Dinks") However I question this as to my knowledge he only recorded 4 sides for Decca/Brunswick, which are not here).
