Although this album was given a catalogue number and printed with the blue Motown "Map" label, it was not made available commercially and was produced in a very limited quantity.

A copy of the album; housed in a silver gatefold sleeve complete with additional inserts detailing the patrons and work of the Loucye Gordy Wakefield Scholarship Fund; was handed out as a souvenir of the event to each attendee of the 1971 Sterling Ball held at "Gordy Manor" on West Boston Boulevard, Detroit MI.

This was the second such fundraising event. The first Sterling Ball being held on October 4, 1969 when a similar repackage of the already commercially available "In Loving Memory" album MT-642 was presented to guests on the evening of the Ball. However, that commemorative album bore it's own unique label not the standard blue Motown one and had no catalogue number.
