Slight correction - according to Billboard of 27th September 1973, the MCA-EMI deal came into effect on 1st January 1974. My statement of October 1973 was based on a recollection (obviously imperfect!) of an old Melody Maker article concerning the UK release by Decca of the AMERICAN GRAFFITTI soundtrack, which was missing 3 tracks, Mark Dinning from MGM, and two Beach Boys tracks from EMI, because those companies refused permission, even though MCA's move to EMI was only a few months away. It doesn't help that I sold my 1973 and 1974 Melody Makers decades ago - if I had only known then what I know now! Anyway, clip of the Billboard item is now attached.
Not a 1970 issue, as EMI didn't get the rights to distribute MCA until October 1973. Before then, Neil's albums were issued by Decca on the Uni label, catalogue number for this album was UNLS 116. The Discogs entry for this verson suggests that the release date was February 1974 (the entry has it as a printers date, but for EMI releases I think it actually corresponds to the issue date).
