| | That one has the standard label and cat number. It's just the sleeve which has the classics logo. I think a similar thing arose with Harvest Heritage. Branding on the sleeve wasn't deemed to change the label itself. Applying that principle, the LP you linked is just a regular Stereo Gold Award release. |

| | Here's one - link - with "Gold Award Classics" on the front but a bog standard Stereo Gold Award label. You would expect this to be a "...Classics" label, but it isn't.
I reckon we could be looking at label variants even.
This supports putting them under one label? |

| | Hmm, interesting points. I see where you are coming from.
Might have to do a bit more digging.
In any case it seems at the very least it needs amending to "Stereo Gold Award Classics".
I might also pop back down the chazza and check the Cat No's on the LPs I noseyed at the other day... |

| | The earliest Stereo Gold Award LP on this site is MER 307 in 1970. I would bet my shirt that the label did not release 300 LPs in the 60s - I think they only started up around 1970, and MER 300 was probably the first one.
So, I don't think there is a continuous run of cat numbers. I think the series is 300... and classics have their own 200... series. Note also that once they realised their "12 Tops" LP series was a go-er, they created a new sequence (MER 100...) just for those.
What I'm getting around to is, I think they should stay separate. If the numbers were sequential, there would be a case for merging, but as I see it, it's a separate label with its own numbering. |

| | Cheers.
That's complicated matters! :-D
So we have "Stereo Gold Award Classics" on the label.
Mods/everyone else - do we go with "Stereo Gold Award Classics" or do we lump them all in with "Stereo Gold Award" (which would allow a complete run of catalogue numbers, as they are in the same sequence)???? |

| | Hi Snig - can you have a look at the label on this one? I think - though I may be wrong - that the record itself will have a regular Stereo Gold Award label (as opposed to "Gold Award Classics", which I think only appears on the cover?). I checked a couple of similar releases in the chazza this week and that was indeed the case with the ones I saw.
Could you please have a look and let us know? If this is the case we can change the label on here.
Cheers
