edlongus SUBS 16th May 2023		If we're talking about albums recorded live by strictly 'stand-up comedians', Redd Foxx has all them beat by a coupla years. If we're talking about live comedy albums in general, I'd have 2 throw Victor Borge and Anna Russell in there as pre-dating Sahl and Berman... As far as live comedy singles, "What It Was, Was Football" and "It's In The Book" come 2 mind, but I'm off-topic now. ♥



Kevin Walsh1 16th May 2023		@Trainman Kup’s liner notes merely acknowledge that “it’s a new idea in records.” But it was preceded in March 1958 by Mort Sahl’s first LP, also recorded live, and in fact Mort had steered Shelley to Verve. There may be even earlier live precedents.
