To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Paul and Linda McCartney's 1971 masterpiece RAM, the album is reissued om 14 May 2021, as a limited-edition half-speed mastered vinyl pressing via UMe.

Half-speed vinyl cut using original 1971 master tapes at Abbey Road Studios, 9th December 2020.

This is a Capitol release, but to retain the image of the original release in 1971 the Apple label has been used on the vinyl under licence to MPL Communications by Apple Corps Limited.

The sleeve is gatefold and replicates the original release, but has a matt finish. It is wrapped with a special obi-strip. The inner sleeve is thick white paper, and bears some credits.

Within the sleeve there is an A5 white card, embossed with the logo and lettering at the bottom of the front of the obi-strip. The card carries the following message:

The record was pressed from a master cut using a precision technique known as half-speed mastering. The procedure requires the source master and the cutting lathe to run at half speed on a specially adapted Neumann VMS-80 lathe.

This specialised technique transforms difficult to cut high-end frequencies into easier to cut mid-range frequencies. The result is a cut with excellent high frequency response and very solid and stable stereo images. In short, half-speed mastering produces a master of the highest quality.
