Just as an aside, on this collection "Someday We'll Be Together" is a different mix to the standard mono and stereo releases...for one, it starts off with the tambourine.....John

I'm sure I bought mine from Simon's Sales Store in Barking in East London back in the 70's. One of the records has the same label both sides. It's record 2 and the label is actually orange.

Pick a colour....any colour

Checked all 4 discs, both sides, there is no letter or even a hint of one on any of them

The stamped single letters seem to be hit and miss, at least on the apparent RCA pressings I have in my collection. I've seen a few where it looks like the stamper hasn't made full contact with the vinyl, so what could be an H is missing the crossbar, or there is just no letter at all!

You're right, there are a few typos.
Record 4, side 1 should be B4RS2437-1
Record 1 side 2 should be B4RS2431-1
Record 2 is correct
I did goof on record 3 side 2, that's also B4RS...

I cannot see any stamped single letter

I don't know the history of this release, but the 4 in RCA matrix numbers indicates laquers cut from tapes supplied to them, so presumably Motown supplied the master tapes - which suggests that they licensed this to Cimco - and then RCA pressed at one of their plants, which is another thing to check for in the deadwax, a stamped "H" (Hollywood), "I" (Indianopolis) or "R" (Rockaway). Trainman, are you sure you haven't made any typos with the matrix numbers? I haven't yet come across any repeated numbers on the RCA-pressed Motown albums in my collection.

No recognisable catalogue number and the label is not the usual Motown design, Marketing company called Cimco, Who manufactured these discs? Mas it Motown? And if not, then who did manufacture them? And did they seek licencing from Motown?

So there are repeat matrix numbers (B4RS-2430 for Record 1, Sides 1 and 2 and B4RS-2436 for Record 4, Sides 1 and 2)? Should Side A2 be B4RS-2431 and D2 be B4RS-2437? Or did whoever etched or stamped said numbers into the deadwax not know what they were doing? (This was before RCA's studios in Chicago shut down on April 26, 1972.)

Are there any pressing matrices in the deadwax? If you're lucky, this was pressed by RCA, and the first letter of the matrices would indicate the year, A = 1971, B = 1972, C = 1973, D = 1974, E = 1975.

I know what the sites say, but the most recent recording on this set was from late 1971. That there is no (P) on this, I wonder . . .

Trainman

I searched as many sights as I could find and everyone seemed to agree on the date. If anyone has better information I welcome the correction

I seem to remember this coming out before 1975.
