Yep, that certainly can cause some difficulty! (in response to RC's "Yeah especially if your dyslectic")

One thing about the earlier CBS Special Products "Pop" albums with the Black & Yellow labels, the "CBS Special Products" printed in white against a yellow background made it hard to see the name. Country Music compilations still under the CBS Special Products heading, were in colours other than yellow and the contrast made it easier to see that heading.
P.S., RC, did you see the label for 20 Electrifying Hits Vol.2? That's where the K-Tel trademark made its first appearance on Australian issued product.

Why did they change it to a red and white label from 20 dynamic hits volume three looks pretty dull to me

@RC, take a look at the label for 20 Electrifying Hits Vol.2(TA-241). The area where "Majestic Records is, and the copyright warning is, is a blue ring with black border, broken by black sections to left(9 O'clock) and right(3 O'clock) on the label. On the left is the Majestic "Crown" trademark whilst on the right is the K-Tel "button" trademark turned 90 degrees clockwise. The body of the label where the content, catalogue & matrix numbers, AMCO credit and "Majestic Records Present...(in box) are printed, is a pale yellow.

When 20 solid hits volume 2 appeared in August 1971 (going by Australian Releases) ktel at that time was lurking in the background it never really made label until the release of fantastic in April 1974 but still held under majestic banner until release of bobby dazzler in October later that year

After about mid-1971 the Majestic name, then later K-Tel became more prominent, particularly with the respective trademark for K-Tel replacing the CBS trademark on Australian issues. So no. Anything from Majestic/K-Tel which does not actually the "CBS Special Products" name or the CBS logo should not be linked back, even with this LP carrying that WSR number.

Back to original question should these be under CBS Special Products as the first cat number is WRS979, and link to K-Tel?.

Ah, you found that album! Yes, NA was the special compilations prefix while WA was for Country music.

Actually, it's not surprising that 1984(did someone mention George Orwell?) was the year of the last K-Tel LP as the company was financially going down the toilet. It's obvious that's why we never saw any CDs issued by them(were there any?) A worthy successor was Dino Music.

Last TA 269 was rocking belly rebels 1981 but the NA series continued in the next three years

The last ktel album to be released was TA 269 have to check up on my record library to confirm and yes that's how I file my records

20 Dynamic Hits Vol.2 was TA-240 while its predecessor(effectively "Vol.1) was DH-810. Next cab off the rank after Dynamic Hits Vol.2 was 20 Electrifying Hits Vol.2 with the number TA-241 and its namesake predecessor was issued as EH-820. This illustrates what I said about K-Tel changing its catalogue prefixing format. And yes, RC, you're right DH Vol.2 was the last of the CBS Special Products though you had to strain your eyes to see the wording in white against a light-yellow background.

20 dynamic Hits volume 2 came out in November 1971 it was the first to use the new catalogue number and the last to use the CBS special products brand

In Australia, K-Tel had their catalogue prefixes fairly-well "fixed" by 1971. No more SH(Solid Hits), PH(Power Hits) or DH(Dynamic Hits) like they were using around 1969/70, they'd settled on TA- pop/rock, WA- country, NA- special compilations(any genre).

I was tricked on this one at first. A quick glance suggested US issue(going by the first set of labels) but then a close look at the rear cover revealed the true origin.... Made in USA on behalf of K-Tel UK. Both sets of labels are, I presume, British so I'll assume the WSR number is for the re-issue and they included the NE number for continuity's sake.

On the second version of the cover are some markers that would have me put this record back on the shelf. A weird little symbol against some of the tracks, indicating them to be re-recorded. For me, that's an absolute obscenity!

A couple of unusual things about this album:
1) It's an American issue of a British compilation(as shown on labels provided by Getalife), mainly because K-Tel USA would generally issue its own compilations, and, if compiling a set like this, would not have included any of the British acts seen in this set, and 2) It's very unusual to see the copyright warning we're familiar with appearing on American records when, at the most they would put "All rights reserved, Unauthorized duplication is a violation of applicable laws" on some but not all labels. A quick look at the back cover reveals all, it's actually a British release but pressed in the USA on behalf of British K-Tel, Ah, I see it all so clearly now...

@An6y66, think these should be added under 'CBS Special Products' which all carry the WSR cat#

added label with extra cat number WSR 797 same sleeve as uploaded by getalife, should this be a separate release?
