Everything I've read implies he did not like the recording sound (it's NOT great) and he did not want I'm Confused released, possibly saving that for Led Zeppelin.
I have an original 1971 Canada issue of this LP on the yellow Epic label...will try & post these labels when I get organized to do my LPs (still working on the 45's first!). I remember the album getting yanked from stores shortly after & realized then what a special recording I had acquired. I would love to know Jimmy Page's reasoning for supressing this album
Way back in 75/76 I traded my original Epic copy of this LP to a fellow that wanted it (very) badly (David Bowie's Man of Words..LP was one of the albums in the trade) I remember getting this CSP version a few months later...it was in the "Cut-out" bins, but without a cut/drill hole....also by this time, Village Oldies counterperson and Liner-notes writer: Lenny Kaye, was the guitarist of The Patti Smith Group....John
