--Double LP in gatefold cover, gold foil cover, First pressings have a red "4" on front and mention of a wall calendar on back, later pressings have a white "4" on front with calendar, final pressings have a white "4" and no mention of calendar.
-- B7 is re-channeled
-- B1, B5 (alt vocal), C1, C4 and D6 are stereo mixes unique to this LP (labels mention "Dawn" as being re-channeled it is not, it is true stereo although it is missing it's intro as is "Let's Hang On")
vidman45 stated, Ace tried, but quickly withdrew its CD release.
I don't think ACE tried very hard. The CD was probably withdrawn because of the fan uproar and the misleading cover. The Top of the ACE release has the word "STEREO" in large red letters (kinda hard to miss) all but 5 tracks (out of 26) on the CD are mono fold downs from album versions. Then at the bottom of the front is the incorrect statement "Contains Versions of their hits previously unreleased on CD" Both would lead a fan to believe they actually reissued the Philips LP.
Whether the tapes are lost is debatable. The album was issued worldwide including Canada , New Zealand, probably Australia and of course England, ACE probably could have gotten an album master from some country, even if the US tapes were destroyed by Philips, which has not been confirmed.
This is one of those cases where you need to hold on to your vinyl
Added partial scans, although this gold gatefold cover was not built to last. Hopefully, someone has a better preserved copy and can get better scans. This double LP is sought by collectors because it has some stereo tracks that are not available elsewhere. The master tapes were lost before it could be mastered to CD. Ace tried, but quickly withdrew its CD release.
