confranfan SUBS 24th Jun 2017		POLYDOR RECORDS LTD release [unreleased] POLYDOR label - POLYDOR SUPER SERIES This WHITE TEST PRESSING FIRST COMPILATION album was issued on the Polydor label, in the full-price "SUPER" range of releases. This album was the first to be considered for a British television campaign and prompted by the huge successes scored by many of Connie's contemporaries with similar projects. The objective of this package was to provide a definitive collection of Connie Francis UK chart entries: eventually realized 16 years later in 1993 with POLYDOR 519 131-1 CONNIE FRANCIS THE SINGLES COLLECTION. In the US, she had recently had a major hit with the tele-marketed 2-LP set CONNIE on SESSIONS SG-69 and pressure was put on Polydor UK to change the track line-up, even to the extent of including material that bore no relevance to the British Connie Francis success story. Seeking a compromise, a new 24-track collection was assembled which, had it materialized, may well have exceeded the vast sales of the eventual compilation 20 ALL TIME GREATS. No catalog number, as such, was assigned to this test pressing, produced while Connie's material was still being released on the MGM label. It has been entered under POLYDOR 2391 290 since it initiated the compilations which led to the final product.
