 Thanks IamBgas, your supposition sounds quite plausible.

 Laurence D; make1968;
I have ten of these in my Beach Boys collection
And yes, I believe there were releases for every "SIngles Release" by Capitol in this time frame, even though I don't own every one of them.
As most of the ones I own were purchased from an auction in Australia by( I think) the National Archives, my supposition is that these were made by Capitol USA to be sent .to their associates around the world for them to be able to hear the tracks and decide which they might actually want to also issue.

 Quite a few of these appeared for sale just recently. I bought three and uploaded them and some of the others to the database here (and you can find them by search "Manufacturing Associate Reference Pressing"). These must have been very limited pressings and as stated, made just for the reference. But possibly, possibly all the Capitol singles (at least between 1958 and 1968) could have been referenced like this (just a wild guess)!

Nice i'm also looking for information about these releases. I have two (or three, not sure) uploaded one, need to find the other(s) :)

 Anyone out there know anything about these 'Single Record Release' albums, or how many different ones were made? I've done a bit of poking around, found nothing so far.
[edit] to answer my own question, I have found examples ranging to April 1968, so that would imply a large number. Although many of them include singles spanning a 2-week period.
