In the dead-wax run-out area on Side 1, the Matrix No. A4RS-2310-1 D has been stamped and then crossed through, as has the handwritten catalogue no. RS 526. The numbers 3.23.71, possibly indicating a pressing date, are also etched into the dead-wax.

The album is packaged in a gatefold sleeve.

Inside, on the left are the lyrics to each song, while opposite is a group photograph annotated with their names and the instruments they play.

On the rear cover, below a reproduction of a painting by Bruegel the album carries the following statement "produced for and dedicated to Kahlil Gibran, Arthur C. Clarke, Herman Hesse, Johnny Carson, Pieter Bruegel, Stanley Kubrick, Fiorello LaGuardia - not to mention, Jesus Christ".

 The pictures on the cover were taken from the painting "The Triumph Of Death" (c.1562) by Peter Brueghel the Elder, later again used for the LP "Black Sabbath Greatest Hits" (1977).
