Read that some record companies (and in Russia in particular), and is now offering its record vinyl disc - with their own vehicle, or the creation of its compilation. Obchno It is proposed this as a gift for a co-operative company. Here we are dealing with a similar phenomenon is likely.
I don't know, but the label mentions a customer tape-to-disc service. I'm guessing you'd send them your reel-to-reel home recordings in, and they'd transfer them to disc for you. (Much the same nowadays - send off your VHS and you can get a DVD back.)
By the way, I don't read that statement about the BBC quite the same way. I think they mean the choir was broadcast, not this specific record.
Fascinating item, this. I was given this for free by a local record seller and fellow collector (many thanks, Paul Payback) who knew I collected records from Hull.
According to the insert this was broadcast on the BBC (radio, presumably) in October 1960 - so I assume the record must be 1960 or 1961.
It's a 10" LP that plays at 33rpm and clearly it's a custom pressing. We have another Rapid Recording Service record over on 45Cat but I haven't been able to find anything else about the "label" or indeed any other records. Anyone know anything about "Rapid Recording Service"?
I have absolutely no other info about the choir either... yet.
