Notes

The track listing above is taken from the album cover and not the labels. This is because, due to what seems like a printing error, the tunes shown on the cover as being on Side 1 of the record are indicated on the label as being on Side 2 and vice versa. This switching error is confirmed by the Master Nos. found engraved in the dead wax of the run out areas which do not correspond to those printed on the labels of that side. Each relates to the number printed on the label of the other side. On both sides of the record the track running order is unaffected by this mistake.

The Master No.for Side 1: HS-1636 is found etched in the deadwax of Side 1 of the record, but printed on the label for Side 2. HS-1637-2, the Master No. for Side 2, is incorrectly printed on the label for Side 1, but is correctly etched in the dead-wax area of Side 2.

The Matrix No. for side 1 is:X4RS-4310-1 and for side 2 it is X4RS-4311-1 (These do not appear on the labels, but are stamped into the vinyl in the run-out area).

On the record label the catalogue no. is given as S 509 while on the cover (front, back and spine) it is printed as RS 509

This is one of five albums that launched Motown's progressive rock "Rare Earth" label in August 1969 and like the other four; S-505, S-506, S-507 and S-508, it was initially housed in a die cut round top cover. Later re-pressings of these five albums were released with a standard square cover.

Motown also included this album with those mentioned above in a promotional five record box set to launch the new label. The box cover featured the Rare Earth logo with "A Very Heavy New Label" printed on the front.
