I suppose it's tied to the change of producer and musical editor (Mike Smith -> Clifford Davis, Shaftesbury -> Fleetwood)

So maybe we need to add the later reissue with the new catalogue number to indicate the two further reissues of the withdrawn record. It's a rare case where the same catalogue number is allocated to two different records with different tracks and a different album title...

It's also hilarious that Gary Moore has credits as G. Moore and R. Moore to reflect the confusion of the record company and the change between the first issue where he was Robert Moore and later when he became forever "Gary Moore".

On further research, he seems to have been G. Moore from the very earliest issue of this. Why did he become R. Moore on Skid, I wonder?

It's even more complicated than you think, Fokeman! According to this, it looks like this version (the very first recorded), was actually issued in May 1970, but withdrawn almost immediately. For some reason in 1983 at Cbs they took cover and masters from that withdrawn release but the labels of the regular issue (which came out with the same cat. no. in September 1970). So, I wouldn't change the cat. number, as this is a reissue of the very first Skid Row album, even if very few copies were in circulation.

I've just begun to understand what happened here. The first issue of their album was called "Skid" and had the catalogue number and tracks as shown on the label. However when it was reissued, instead of noting the reordered and changed tracks they printed a basic rerun of the "Skid" album onto the label. But this WASN'T the "Skid" album. It was now called "Skid Row" and had a new, different cover with the correct track listing on the back, as mentioned by Gian Paolo.

It seems that eventually it was given a different catalogue number too. It would be helpful to use the new catalogue number 450623 1. I wonder if this is shown in the matrix numbers? That would at least allow us to correctly differentiate the two albums.

In short, a complete mess up, as you say, Gian Paolo!

That's difficult to answer, Gian Paolo. I think we have to stick to the rule of listing what is on the label but put in notes the correct track listing. I can check with other Mods to see what the consensus is...

@Fokeman: It is a labels misprint, the real track listing is the one I listed (and shows up on the back cover too), as stated on the Notes. I don't understand how would you list this record, please tell me, thanks

My question was to ask why we have the track listing from a different record instead of what is showing on the labels. If it doesn't play what it says, then that can go in Notes but we shouldn't have a completely different set of tracks showing on the label, as compared with what is on the listing.

Stating to Discogs, this should be the 1987 release

 Is this a 1983 issue or a 1987 issue?

This is actually the very first Skid Row album, recorded probably in 1969 and then replaced with new songs and a new producer.
