Although the release date for the stereo version of "Heat Wave" is given as January 1966, it would appear from the RCA Custom Matrix nos. that the album was ready for release in late 1965.

Just like the original Mono version, early Stereo copies had the dark purple Gordy "script" label. Later prints were issued with the newer "arrow" logo.

On this Stereo version, the writer credit error of "My Boyfriend's Back" has been corrected on the record label .

Motownjohnny 24th Sep 2017		The 2002 U.K. CD Twofer back cover does show "Quicksand" included as a track on the album (last track on side 2). However, the implication / suggestion drawn from this that the song may have been intended for inclusion on "Heat Wave" can easily be kicked into the long grass by comparing the first release date of the Mono album, (September 1963) with the recorded date for "Quicksand", which the D.F.T.M.C. website gives as 4 October 1963. "Quicksand" was clearly recorded after the original Mono album was released and in the shops, and could not have been planned for inclusion on it!

PhilMH 11th May 2016		Hi Roger, "Quicksand" was on the 1981 UK reissue of the LP, linked below.



RogerFoster 10th May 2016		The 2002 UK CD Toofer that combined this with "Come And Get These Memories" includes a replica back cover of the "Heatwave" LP sleeve that suggests that this also included "Quicksand". Very mysterious!!
