Hi Phil, after a bit of snooping about I have found out that Image was owned by Avenue and that Avenue came into being with the express purpose of promoting Jimmy and the Boys in 1979. They later released back catalogue Image albums such as this and contemporary Colleen Hewitt, Max Merritt and Tina Arena albums as well as Mondo Rock's monstrosities. So as far as this one goes I'm happy to change the date to 1982 as the cat#s indicate in your comment. Correction sent.
This is a reissue from 1982/83, numerically it fits into the Aussie CBS albums between Billy Joel's albums THE NYLON CURTAIN (SBP 237821) and AN INNOCENT MAN (SBP 237928). The 1974 original was on the Image label, ILP 744, entering the Australian Top 100 albums chart on 13 January 1975, and eventually peaking at no. 14. I don't know if Avenue Records was owned by the same people as Image, but it (Avenue) was previously distributed by Festival, having a few hit singles and one hit album by Mondo Rock during 1980 and 1981. (Info from David Kent's Australian Chart Book 1970-1992).
If you don't know these guys the best way to describe them is sort of like an Australian souped up Bonzo Dog band. Yes, I did say souped up - look up their clip of "Who Walks In (When I Walk Out)' on youtube if you don't believe me. This album is incredible! Vaudeville, jazz, blues, country, jug band & bluegrass all distilled into an intoxicating knockout brew by seasoned professionals. Hmm... nothing better.
