| | lee w: *g*. (- & yes; yr hmbl srppnt. worked in a precursor of the whale tail too, but that was almost four years after i'd set up & run two sf/fantasy p/b lists, left single step co-op. ltd, moved down to london, got stuck with no visible means, got busted, did two years agency driving, a year in the official solicitor's department (intending to do three), and left after a year to come back up to single step again, to get it out of a major financial (& legal) hole. . .)
(on ceasing to work in the co-op. your notional £1 equal share reverts to it, so yr hmbl srppnt.'s possessed no financial interest in, nor any say in its affairs since then - which is as it should be: it's a workers' co-operative. ) |

further thought: that large centred depression in the vinyl under the - very smooth: much smoother than early & mid-sixties - label, extending out as far as the "marty robbins", "side one" & "side two", and most of the stereo asrrow, is also a pointer as to the earliest this particular copy was pressed, despite presence of the early "bpg" in the cat#: this must've stayed on the cbs uk catalogue - and kept selling - for ages - decades - entire iains ...

| | ppint, that's fairly close to a whale of a tale isn't it? Single Step looks very impressive though. |

| | I would say that this catalogue number was first released in late 1962 or early 1963; it wasn't reviewed in Gramophone, but MARTY AFTER MIDNIGHT (BPG/SBPG 62041) was, in the October 1962 issue. |

| | thank-you, dr. doom - from early '75 yr hmbl srppnt. was setting up single step - eventually single step co-operative ltd - with others, and too short of cash, and too busy, to keep up with label design changes, etc. |

| | CBS had moved to the 'sunburst' label by the mid seventies so the labels are certainly pre-1975.
At a guess I'd say late 60s as the sleeve is not a flipback but is laminated. |

| | labels images 875821 & -23 are not from 1960, but much later - c.1975-85 (?cbs uk pressings experts?)
- and since the (mono) fontana lp is listed as a 12/1960 uk issue, there isn't a lot of 1960 left for the cbs lp to appear in - especially since issues on the (philips-distributed) uk cbs label started up in may '62. . .
