With the exception of Tracks 1, 2, 7 and 8 on Side A, all are Neil Diamond compositions. Second LP in EMI Australia's SCA catalogue series across all labels, issued here in 1975 though label shows 1972 publishing year.

| | It had only occurred to me just before I sent you a PM, RC(initially speaking, ha-ha) re: your remark - "HMV Diamond love it" that you tied in the ad for the styli(plural of stylus) with the artist on the cover.... clever! |

Record Collector 16th Feb 2015
| | Yes I have a few albums under the play series |
Neil Forbes 16th Feb 2015
| | That ad started appearing on all the EMI SCA-series releases(at my guess) across all labels but by the 1980s the series was replaced with the PLAY-1000 series(again across all EMI labels). |

| | It's surprising just how much of Neil Diamond's backlists from his Bang, MCA(Uni) and CBS days are yet to surface on CD or(in some markets outside Australia) LP. |
Record Collector 16th Feb 2015
| | I have The Essential Neil Diamond which you may know is part of that series of CDs the two tracks I mentioned don't appear on that two CD Set |

| | Longfellow Serenade is from his earlier days at CBS. The one I've yet to see anywhere on LP or CD is "The Time Is Now"which was the B-side to "Kentucky Woman" on the original single(mistakenly earlier credited it as on the back of "Thank The Lord..." Whoops!). Now there's a real RARITY! |

Record Collector 16th Feb 2015
| | another track they don't put on current greatest hits or best of and I think it features on his 12 greatest hits volume two long fellow serenade another hard to find hit |

| | The version of Shilo that Diamond did for MCA is a completely new(for that time and for that label) recording. They didn't remix the Bang version at all. They didn't use it, period! |
Neil Forbes 16th Feb 2015
| | If you are on the look-out for Shilo on CD, the compilation to look for is "Neil Diamond - Classics - The Early Years" on CBS (Cat. #CDCBS-25531), issued in 1983 before Sony subsumed the CBS brand and replaced it with "Columbia", an act I resented as I always associated the Columbia name with EMI. |

| | that's the version im after I listened to a few samples one of them sounds similar on his the ultimate neil diamond not the MCA version that was released years ago it sounds like its been remixed with a lot of reverb cut out as it features on the single mix |
Neil Forbes 16th Feb 2015
| | I'm thinking the version of Shilo used here is the earlier album version. The 7" single version is on 20 Explosive Hits(Columbia[EMI] TVS-3). |
Record Collector 16th Feb 2015
| | This version of shilo is very hard to get on CD no matter what greatest hits or best of it features a rerecording I hope the next lost in the seventies CD will feature the single mix |

| | As it happens, I've got to look for a new copy as this one has a nasty crack in it(caused by accident, of course). Lucky for me I've got all the tracks saved as MP3 files. |

| | RC, you've scared the life out of me by telling me the Shilo LP is 45 years old(I'm feeling positively ancient now! ha-ha) Just a sec.... This LP will be 40 years old this year!(43 years old for the American issue), yoiks! |

| | My most ambitious upload yet! Neil Diamond in a Best-Of LP with gatefold sleeve! This album was issued in 1975 here in Australia though Bang in the USA had issued the same compilation in 1972(though I couldn't say if the cover was the same).
Just seems that Neil Diamond's Bang records backlist gets hashed, rehashed, re-rehashed and re-re-rehashed every couple of years! And usually the same tracks keep turning up! I'm yet to see a compilation that carries the original B-side to Thank The Lord..., that track being The Time Is Now. I think I'd faint from shock if I saw that one turn up anywhere! It's truly one of his rarest! Must correct myself, the A-side was, in fact, Kentucky Woman Ouch! |
