Hi Lee, I suspect in this case it was just used to reflect the varying nationalities of the artists, who came from several EMI-group (or EMI-distributed) labels. The original thrust of EMI International as it originated in the UK seems to have been as a sort-of replacement for Stateside, as the singles and albums released on the label were usually licensed from a variety of external sources, and not just US labels (Stateside turned out to be a very flexible concept in some parts of the world, including Australia, with some releases not being of US origin).

Thanks for the confirmation Phil but now I have to ask just how international was it? There are a fair few homegrown Aussie acts on this one and I'd of thought it would have only been available in Australia. I suppose Max Merritt is a Kiwi so maybe they shipped some over the ditch. Or is the moniker just used for no apparent reason?

Yep Lee, EMI International is right - different label design, colours and layout from the standard EMI label of the period.

Label EMI or EMI International? I went with the latter, Discogs lists as just EMI is one more right than the other?
