{Images #3214196 & 3214201} is the RCA Victor Record Club edition, pressed in Indianapolis, IN, with the 1" pressing ring that would be key to their subsequent introduction of Dynaflex. It is they who always, without exception, used the Atco stereo color scheme for all releases on either label, whether mono or stereo, up to this point.

January 20th was a Monday in 1969, the day I'd have expected the album to be released. It was a Tuesday in 1970, but that's another story and not really relevant to this one.

If Jan 20th 1969 was a Tuesday - that is a safe bet vice January 12th...

So, it was January 20th, was it? Why has the Internet been claiming for all these years it was January 12th (knowing full well that was a Sunday in 1969)? What possesses people to play these sort of mind games?

Thanks for saying it was January 20th. I am now accepting that as absolutely correct.

strictly speaking the 1968 letter does not belong here. It was sent out with the advance copies which had no cat number. That object was listed here but seems to have been removed. If you could restore it I will take some careful photographs of its labels

There is documentation of 30th Dec 1968 which indicated a release date of 20th January. I placed this at Discogs

Mod Edit: Release date changed.

labels hand typed by Atlantic. There was a letter ( dated as above) which indicated the 'buzz' about the band and 20th Jan 1969 cited for release.

Does anyone have the test pressings of 1968? There must have been some. Also after there are review or promo copies without a cat number. I am trying to see matrix marks and where these discs were pressed.

Hopefully some examples will emerge,

Are you absolutely sure the mighty Led Zeppelin's debut album was released on 12 Jan 1969? This isn't the only site which claims it was released on that particular Sunday. I am still not convinced that records are released on Sundays, in the US, UK or anywhere else. Is there any particular reason why I keep seeing Sundays as the given release dates for records? I would have thought it more likely that this album was released on Monday, 13 Jan 1969. Does anyone have any documentation to prove that it was released on Sunday 12 Jan 1969?
