I was quoting from the cover. All the MGM Hermit's I own give Reverse as manufacturer (bar one), even though the records were pressed by MGM Record Division.
I think the group were signed to Mickie Most, and not Columbia/E.M.I., who was signed to Reverse Producers Corp. in the US, where Allen Klein was involved. Say no more. On that other site only Animals' product is listed under Reverse besides Hermits'.
Anyway, company branches across different countries often were not obliged to release everything offered from related companies, and then the artists/producers in question were free to sell to whomever took them. See the beginnings in the US market of a certain foursome of moptops, who later on became fabulously well to do.
Actually, Reverse Producers Corp. produced the tracks on this album in England for EMI/Columbia, M-G-M was merely the US licencee(should've been Capitol, by rights). The label states Stereo but a listen to the tracks will soon tell you they're not TRUE stereo at all, but a poorly-produced imitation that has no hint of spread between the speakers at all. I can produce a far more convincing "synthetic" stereo effect using my Sound Forge programme on my computer, Using a ten-band* graphic equaliser, apply the following to one side of the stereo pair on your monitor screen, bottom two bands(bass), middle two bands(midrange) and upper two(treble) boost to maximum The two bands between bass and midrange and the two between midrange and treble are cut. On the opposite channel, reverse the settings, the bands boosted for one channel are now cut for the opposite channel. Add to one of the channels a 50-microsecond delay(set it to 100%delay in the slider that gives mix between original and delayed signal). This will give you a far better synthetic stereo effect than what you get off those supposed "rechanneled" records. Of course you realise that now I've told you this, I'm-a gonna hafta kill you-all!(ha-ha) Only Jokin'!
Manufactured by Reverse Producers Corp. for MGM Records Division (who obviously did the pressing)
