R.C., Funny you should mention that title and the group that recorded it. A friend I knew, many years ago, who migrated from England, has a sister who had a small collection of 45s, among them was that track on an EMI/Stateside single. And that was the first time I'd ever laid eyes on an English 45rpm single! The year was 1969... a lo-o-o-o-o-ong time ago!
Record Collector's comment: "Another good song is Sacremento" - Agreed! Middle Of The Road put out some fairly catchy stuff during the first few years of the 1970s. Another of theirs, with a sting in its tail, lyric-wise is The Talk Of All The USA from 1972. Pity that much of their stuff failed to chart here. And Kimbozw, thanks for your info, and I must stand corrected, Bottoms Up did JUST make the NSW charts, debuting at 36 on 14th December, 1972 but going no higher than 35 during a 6-week stay(info: The Book[Ed.#7 -1956-2005] by Steve Scanes and Jim Barnes)
Bottoms Up was issued as a single in Australia but bombed out, didn't make the NSW charts(and likely not in any of the other states' charts either). Pity. Good song.
