Hi Lee, yes could be sitting in shops for a while, but don't forget record companies are not like Government issue stamps / coins, if they happen to find labels lying around, they may well use them! I have a Stones (I think it's Between the Buttons) LP which is definitely of the lighter type used later but has "Cromwell" royalty logos on it like the original 60's one, I must check the run out text on it...
Thanks for the breakdown on the Decca labels wax_museum. According to your information all my Stones album which are on the blue boxed Decca are form 72-75 which is quite interesting. I'm sure I would have bought some of these new in the late 70's to early 80's so they must have been sitting in the shops for ages before I came along. I sold my copy of this one a few months back when I was rationalising my LP's. It hadn't been played in 5 years and I doubt that it would get a whirl in its entirety ever again. I don't miss it.
I have this album but with different labels.
I think it is a 1970's re-issue. Not sure.
I have added pics of my labels.
If my copy should be a separate entry, please let me know and I'll add one for it.
