 Probably for publishing reasons, i.e. Capitol didn't want to pay out too much in royalties; US publishing royalties are different to the UK and much of the world, being a set amount of cents per track (I don't know what it was then, now I think it's somewhere above $0.10), but the amount increases for tracks longer than five minutes, and there are a couple of those here, so the more tracks there are, and the more over 5 mins, then the more that has to be paid out. UK I think is still 6.75% of the price of the record, and that's then divided up between all the songs, whether there are 2 or 20.

 I wonder why only four tracks per side for this first US release, with selected cuts from his first two albums?
