BB Top Album Picks: October 20, 1979

The original Joe Jackson Band features Joe Jackson on vocals, piano, harmonica and melodica, Gary Sanford on guitar, Graham Maby on bass and vocals and Dave Houghton on drums and vocals.
All tracks are arranged by Joe Jackson (with some help from the band) and produced by David Kershenbaum (with some help from Joe). The album was recorded at TW Studios, London, UK and mixed at Eden Studios, also London, UK. Front cover photo by Bruce Rae, inner sleeve photos by Sheila Rock.
Standard and testpressing copies exist.

Plaatjesman 4th Feb 2014		Added the back cover of a Columbia Record Club issue. It just has CRC stamped on this back cover.



Plaatjesman 9th Oct 2013		Added the label variation of the mispressed copy (where side 2 plays side 2 of Joe Jackson's 1981 record "Jumpin' Jive") This mispressed copy has the same cover as the original 1979 issue, but it came with no insert. The labels have a slight variation. A little 'B' is printed left of the A&M logo on the bottom of the label. I think this 'B' indicates the recordplant where this record has been pressed. The matrix numbers in the run-off groove area will not indicate a mispressing. The matrix numbers are "A&M SP04794A ES-1" and "AM SP04794 B ES2", where I would have expected a Jumpin' Jive US record number SP04871 on the B-side. Oh, and side 2 has 6 tracks!



beatcrazy 3rd Sep 2013		There are also mispressed copies floating around, that play side 2 of the Joe Jackson album "Jumpin' Jive" on the b-side (the label is the same as the standard version). Also, this album exists as a 5 x 7" singles box set with poster (SP-18000 - see 45cat.com)
