Straight re-issue and/or issue-continuance on the Mercury label from Smash using same catalog number, beginning ca. end of the use of the Smash label within the Polygram empire.
Manufactured/marketed: Phonogram, Inc., a Polygram Co., 810 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10019
Added cover and label images. I entered a date of 1981 for this re-issue based on the following:
Phonogram moved its headquarters from Chicago to New York in 1980. The rim print on most of the 1980 Mercury labels show "Manufactured and Marketed by Phonogram, Inc...." with a Chicago address. The rim print on the labels I uploaded show "Manufactured and Marketed by Phonogram, Inc...." with a New York address. Sometime in 1982 the rim print on the Mercury labels started showing "Manufactured and Marketed by Polygram Records, Inc...." with the New York address.
The labels I uploaded show a pressing plant code of 18. I did a search for pressing plants used by Polygram and couldn't find a pressing plant associated with 18.
Also, the back cover has 0518 in small text underneath the catalog numbers in the upper left corner. I don't know what that number represents.
