Phil! We should be getting a pop-up or something to show someone reacted to a comment or release.
Okay, so no Cat. Nr. but rel. date.. got it, thanks!
The STMR thing is odd indeed now that you point it out, mistakes were made and now that I am going through my collection I see so many, some are worse than this. Complete track listings that aren't even on the CD.. -_-
Some of them I didn't even notice until now hahaha! Hotsound Megamixes 1 + 2 is a fine example. Could it be: Stereo Tamla Motown Recording??
Hi Helen, that's not a catalogue number, the 8010 is the release date, i.e. October 1980, and the GL is the code for the printers Garrod & Lofthouse Limited. I don't know what the TM stands for, but I don't think it's Tamla Motown, as I think I've seen it on other labels' releases. The October 1980 date is confirmed by Gordon Frewin's discography in Sharon Davis' book MOTOWN: THE HISTORY.
As this is a mono album, the catalogue number should have been TMR 9008, the S of course originally signifying Stereo, but it looks like someone at EMI forgot about that (or hadn't been there long enough to know about mono/stereo numbering conventions). I remember seeing the same thing in the 70s or 80s on a US Atlantic release that was mono, but the catalogue number had the SD prefix which meant "Stereo Disc".
