Second pressing of this Mono only LP with EMI 'boxed labels' sold recently at auction for £300 plus Buyers Premium: 24% + VAT (28.8% inclusive), so about £387 for the buyer to fork out...

Sold at Omega Auctions. The sleeve I can read states 6609 Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patents pending SX 6064.
That would suggest a release date of September 1966, as the printers code 6609 is indicative of September. I am not stating that the release date of November 1966 is wrong, but the sleeves were manufactured earlier....perhaps there was a planned release for September 1966, and the release date was put back for any number of reasons.

Sleeve comprised of two parts, front sheet laminated litho colour folded and glued over rear single colour printed sheet, with three 'ears' or tabs to secure.

I would assume that your copy would be worth more.

Gulp!,this sort of thing doesn't normally happen to me,whilst sorting through a box of Jazz LP's recently bought at a car-boot for £25,this beauty came out.Checking it on Discogs first,as i normally do (i find it's "Median" price,i.e,the average price it has sold for, quite useful as a guide) all this one said was "2 for sale from £599.99"!!,i almost choked on my biscuit;),how much?!,and, not only is it near mint,it's also a first press i believe,at least,it's on the Columbia blue labels (latter ones having black/silver EMI boxed labels).£800 in my 2016 RRPG!!,and whilst i realise that these prices are seldom attained,it is,still by far,the highest valued by the RRPG,record i have ever found to date,so,for once,i'm the lucky so-and-so;),so there is still hope for all of us crate-digger's;)(keep searching).
Is it any good?well yes,it's brilliant (of course,i would say that wouldn't i?:),i,m no Jazz aficionado, and have slowly been buying into the genre only for the past couple of years, still exploring really...,but,from what i've heard so far, yes,it compares very well, being up there, amongst the best i've heard (so-far IMHO).It stands out,style-wise.Is it worth the money?,well that of course is very much down to the individual, but i've heard "dire" albums that sell for £100-£300,so i know "rarity" doesn't always mean "quality";)
(Never have i placed something so carefully in the scanner/on my turntable;)
Anyhow, enough of my good fortune, and i hope other members will have similar luck (i used to look through the RRPG,wondering what it would be like to own one of these "high-valued" albums, and now i've got one!;),where shall i put it though?,it has to go in my "most precious" album case of course;),will it still get played?,you bet!,just very carefully;)
